

Dr. William Joseph Peche, age 75, passed away on Thursday, October 11, 2012. He was born in San Antonio November 4, 1936 and was the great, great grandson of Jose Gregorio Esparza, defender of The Alamo.
Bill is preceded in death by his parents John Raymond Peche and Juanita Rios Peche Gonzalez; his brother, John Raymond Peche and niece Michelle Diane Peche. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Nancy Agnew Peche; son Dr. William Joseph Peche, Jr. and wife Melanie of Salt Lake City, Utah; daughter Vanessa Ann and husband Robert Harrison Gleason of Houston, Texas; grandsons Tristan Esparza Peche and Oscar William Peche of Salt Lake City, sister Bertha Peche Dise and sister-in-law Ofelia Peche, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Bill was a graduate of Thomas Jefferson High School and St. Mary's University and received his medical degree from the Universidad Autnoma de Nuevo Len in Monterrey, Mexico in 1965.
Having completed his residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at The University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio in 1970, Dr. Peche stayed in San Antonio working in private medical practice for 42 years until his retirement. In addition to his own practice, he served as Chairman of the Downtown Baptist Hospital and Chairman of the OB-GYN department at Santa Rosa General Hospital where, in 1988, he was elected Chief of Staff.
A founding member of American Physicians Insurance Exchange, Bill served in the capacity of Chairman of the Board of Directors from 1992-1995.
Bill was dedicated to his faith and after being ordained as a Deacon in the Catholic Church in 2002 he served at Holy Spirit Catholic Church from 2002 - 2012.
Bill was a gracious and devoted husband, father, grandfather, friend, and mentor to many. He was a compassionate and caring physician and was truly invested in the well-being of his patients. He had the gift of making people feel important and always had time for others. He will be greatly missed by all.
Special thanks and gratitude to his loyal staff of over 30 years, Ofelia Peche, Ann Miller, N.P. and Marney Kidwell, M.S.N; Jayarsee Rao, M.D. and staff; Thomas Eades, M.D.; and the nurses at North Central Baptist Hospital on 1-West.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, October 14, from 6:00-7:00 P.M. at Porter Loring Mortuary North.
