William "Bill" Schaefer

William was born in Austin, Texas to William Alanzo Schaefer and Bonnie Loyce Bruner on September 19, 1954. He married Angela Schaefer on December 18, 1977 in Lubbock, Texas. The youngest of three, William attended University of Texas and eventually joined the United States Air Force. He served 6 years with United States Air Force. He was stationed in Lakenheath, England from 1978 – 1980. He worked as an Air Traffic Controller in Lubbock, Texas; Littlerock, Arkansas and San Antonio, Texas then retired in December of 2005.

William or “Bill” as most called him, lived life enjoying the simpler things in life, family, good friends, good coffee and a good trip to the shooting range. His passion for music especially Willie Nelson and Steely Dan was a great joy in his life. His truest joy came from the time spent with his wife, daughters, and grandchildren he loved getting the family together for holidays and family dinners. His family will miss his story telling, and most of all his humor.

William was preceded in death by his father, William Alanzo Schaefer. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Angela Schaefer; daughters, Tebra Molina, Lana Barrientes and husband, Sonny, and Samantha Sanchez and partner, Stephen McGehee; grandchildren, Gabby, Elaina, and Loren Barrientes, Skylar Bushell, Abigail Sanchez, and Aiden Sanchez; mother, Bonnie Schaefer; siblings, Edwin Schaefer and Phyllis Murray; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and a lifetime of friends.

A private celebration of Bill’s life will be held at a later date.
