
He graduated from Llano High School then selected Texas A&M as his college. He earned a B.S. degree in marketing and finance. In his senior year he served as a member of the Corps. Staff. In 1942 at the final review his entire class was sworn in as Second Lieutenants in the U.S. Army.
He spent his military career at Fort Sam Houston and later at Fort Dix instructing in heavy weapons. He married Elizabeth "Pat" Patterson on November 19, 1945 and they had an exciting and rewarding life in retailing starting at Joske's of Texas where they both graduated from the Allied Stores Executive Training Course.
Later Bill accepted a buying job with the Post Exchange - originally in Nurnberg Germany. Later he became Vice President of the international division of Rust Craft Greeting Card Company. After 15 years in Europe and England he returned to the San Antonio and Joske's. Upon retirement he enjoyed life in Terrell Hills and St. David's Episcopal Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years; a sister-in-law, Mary Fay Wallace, of Llano, Texas; three nephews, Joe Thomas Wallace, of Fredericksburg, Texas; William Marshall Wallace, of Midland, Texas and Charles Warren Wallace of New Braunfels, Texas and their families.
