

Willie was raised by his grandparents, Agusta and Rebekah McLean in Durham, NC. They both preceded him in death. He spoke of a wonderful childhood with them. Now they are back together. He kept in touch with Joseph Thorpe, a childhood friend from Durham, NC to this day.
Willie entered into the Air Force as a combat photographer with his work during the Vietnam War and several years following. Other jobs were Gunsmith Technician, Combat arms trainer and maintenance. He retired from service in 1990. He then worked at Via Transit System as a Bus Operator for 14 years, followed by the USPS working as a mail handler and custodian. He retired a couple of years ago to spend time with family.
He was preceded in death by his son, Willie Lee McClain Jr. and Aunt Annie Ruth Perry.
Willie is survived by his wife Sherry McClain; daughter Shaylen DeVaul (fiance Ruben Sanchez) and daughters Yulonda, Dalia and Daria.
He is also survived by his grandchildren, children of the late Willie Lee McClain Jr, Willie Lee McClain III and Whitney McClain.
Additionally, Mac is survived by his oldest daughter Jimmie McClain who lives in LA. Son Johnny Hogan, wife Alesia, children Alani and Ashlyn, living in LA. Son Curtis Hogan, wife Antwainque and sons Javonte, Javarion and Zariyon, live in AZ. Daughter Jasmine with husband Danie Covington, children Harmony, Drayson and Amari, live in LA.
Daughter Brenda McClain Smith with husband James, Sons Deon McClain Smith, Marquise Smith, Keishanay Taylor and their son J'Ceon all living in TX.
Mac had 4 stepsons Richard Jason Martinez, Brian Christopher Martinez with daughters Sophie and Phoebe and great grandson Jonah. Daniel Eugene Martinez, wife Jessica and son Jordan David living in CO. Micheal Joseph Martinez, Sara with sons Merrick and Luca, living in WV.
Cousin, Shirley Sulick and husband Dr. Michael Sulick of Wake Forest, NC.
Mac had many friends as well, loved bowling with wife for 23 years every Monday. He loved to meet new people and talk with them; he will be greatly missed.
