Xavier Thomas Munoz lived with his heart wide open. Whether through a warm smile, a listening ear, or a helping hand, he always put others first. He made it his mission to ensure his family was cared for and supported in every way possible. To his nieces and nephews, he was more than an uncle—he was a source of wisdom, laughter, and unconditional love.
A proud U.S. Army veteran, Xavier served four years of active duty and two years in the reserves. He carried that same sense of honor and dedication into every aspect of his civilian life.
His faith was central to who he was. A devout Catholic, he lived by his beliefs and found strength and peace in his church community.
A true lover of life, Xavier found joy in the simple things. He loved the outdoors and was happiest exploring state parks, hiking scenic trails, or planning his next trip. His adventurous spirit was contagious, and he loved sharing those experiences with friends and family. One of his favorite times of year was Fiesta in San Antonio—especially Nights in Old San Antonio (NIOSA), where his laughter could always be found among the celebration.
Those who knew him will remember his easygoing nature, his ever-present smile, and his ability to make everyone feel like a friend. He lived with joy, gave with abundance, and loved without condition.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Estefana and Francisco Matanane; and uncles, Frank Matanane and Edward Farias. Xavier is survived by his parents; siblings, Richard M. Munoz, Jessica K. Munoz, and Nicholas J. Munoz; godson, Matthew D. Munoz; nieces and nephews, Amanda L. Dickinson, Cayden J. Munoz, Camden D. Munoz, and Madison A. Munoz; great-nephews, Oliver L. Lindner and Michael O. Lindner.
