Born on August 3, 1948, to Micaela and Manuel Lucio Garcia, Yolanda's life was marked by her devotion to family, her unwavering faith and her servant’s heart. A proud Westside San Antonian, she graduated from John F. Kennedy High School in 1967, where she enjoyed being involved in the Spanish Club, Future Nurses of America, Pep Squad, and Student Council.
Yolanda retired from the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio after 30 years of dedicated service. In her free time, she found joy in reading the Bible, thrift store shopping, bowling, dancing, playing dominoes, poker and bingo with friends. Above all, she cherished the moments spent with her family and fellow church members. Deeply committed to her Christian faith, Yolanda graduated from Word of Faith Christian Center, was a faithful volunteer at church events and graciously bestowed the love of Jesus on others.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Candelario “Sam” Camero, her parents, and her siblings, Demetrio Garcia and Graciela Rodriguez.
Yolanda is survived by her children, Georgina C. Alva (Simon), Charlie Camero (Holly), Christopher Michael Camero (Monica De la Garza), and Celena Camero Frisk; grandchildren, Simon Lee Alva, Caitlan Coel Alva (Jerry Montez), Avery Nicole Alva (Isaiah Maldonado), Xavier Anthony Drury (Helene) and Charlie Camero (Jen); great-grandchildren, Jesiah Anthony Montez, Jayce Ryan Montez, Chloe Quinn Montez, and Sloane Marie Drury; and siblings, Manuel Garcia, Danny Garcia, and Rosa Vara.
