Yvonne Tucker Mount, age 83, passed away at her home on November 22, 2012 after a long illness. She was born to Vic and Robbie Tucker on July 14, 1929 in Ardmore, Oklahoma. Yvonne attended the University of Oklahoma where she was a Gamma Phi Beta. She married Don Mount in 1948 and they moved to Salt Lake City, Utah while Don acquired his Masters of Geology. Yvonne and Don moved to San Antonio, Texas in 1956 during the summer of the breaking drought in a non air-conditioned Ford station wagon filled with three kids. Yvonne believed that life was worth living to the fullest and on her own terms. While living that life, she was always a charming, vivacious and full of fun character. She enjoyed spending time with friends, playing bridge and golf at the country club and being part of a neighborhood group that had its own jazz band. She was best known for her wonderful cooking, especially Sunday morning French toast and Thanksgiving dinner with ALL the fixings. Yvonne's favorite activity was traveling the world with family or friends looking for the next beautiful place to experience or shops to delight. She finally found her favorite place in Crested Butte, Colorado where she spent many months each year connecting with her youngest son Thornton and being part of another lively group of women called the "Butte Beauties." This group had great times horseback riding, playing golf and bridge, and marching in the 4th of July Parade each summer. Her funny (and sometimes blunt) remarks and infectious laugh will be missed by all.
Yvonne is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 60 years, Donald Lee Mount; her parents Vic Tucker and Robbie Tucker-Roberts; her brothers James B. Tucker and Robert L. Tucker. She is survived by children Vicki M. Scott (John), Michael S. Mount (Lisa), Sara M. Colella (Steve), and Thornton D. Mount (Cea); grandchildren Travis B. Solcher, Tracy S. Cordell (David), Ryan and Victor Mount, Matthew Barbour (Sonya), Clint Barbour, Olivia and Nathan Mount; great grandchildren Kyra, Cooper, and Cass Cordell, Easton and Brayden Barbour; sisters-in-law Mrs. Laurie Tucker and Mrs. Marilyn Tucker-Soto; nephew and nieces Joshua Tucker (Rachel), Jessica Bruce (Billy), Jennifer T. Bailey (John), Janell Bailey (Matthew), and special family friends including Carroll S. (CB) Barbour and Mrs. Fran Huddle and her daughter Denise Diane Huddle. The family would like to give special thanks to devoted caregivers Olga Lopez, Lupe Apolinar, Carrie Cantu and New Century Hospice.
