

Zachary Vencel Witkowski, age 51, passed away after an unexpected illness on Tuesday, January 24th, in San Antonio, TX. He was born in Michigan City, Indiana, on September 30, 1971, to Gregory M. Witkowski and Patricia A. Witkowski. After graduating high school, he attended Southern Arkansas University briefly before enlisting in the United States Army. He served his country honorably for 11 years in Alaska, Oklahoma, the Republic of Korea, and Texas, with deployments to Iraq and Kuwait. He earned two commendation medals, eight Army Achievement medals, and was an expert in rifles and grenades. At the time of honorable discharge, he had achieved the rank of E5. Zachary worked as a civilian contractor in several capacities, supporting operations at Fort Hood and Fort Knox. In 2022, Zachary celebrated his 10th anniversary with Caterpillar, Inc., where he was a Facilities Engineering Manager.
Zachary earned his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, with a concentration in Information Systems, in 2016 from the University of Incarnate Word in San Antonio, TX, graduating Cum Laude. He earned his Master of Business Administration with a concentration in Data Analytics in 2020, also from the University of Incarnate Word.
His number one passion was his family. He loved to be outdoors with his family exploring the beauty of the United States visiting state and National parks. He was a life-long learner with hobbies that included culinary experiments, fermenting, BBQ, fishing, hunting, gardening, and Christmas lights.
His faith was very important to him. He was a Parishioner of the Church of the Holy Spirit and was raising his girls in the faith that sustained him throughout his life. He supported the Saddle Light center, equestrian therapy for the disabled.
On October 29, 2011, in San Antonio, TX, he married the love of his life, Rachel (Graham) Witkowski, and they celebrated over 11 years of marriage.
Zachary is survived by his loving wife, Rachel Graham Witkowski, and twin daughters Elise and Ziva Witkowski; mother, Patricia A. Witkowski; siblings Colette (Robert Jonas) Witkowski; Tanya (Richard) Tallerine; Xavier (Icela) Witkowski; Ambrose (Karen) Witkowski; Bianca (Rachael Dyda) Witkowski; nieces and nephews Samantha, Garrett, Ashley, Dylan, Grace, Tyler, McKenzie, Regan, Madison, Taylor, Adam, Oliver; Great nieces and nephews Josiah, Diana, Natacia, Kinsley, Savannah, Joseph, Benjamin, Michael, and two on the way; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father, Gregory M. Witkowski, sister Natasha A. Witkowski, and his beloved Boxer, Daisy.
Father Mark Dreves will officiate a memorial mass at the Church of the Holy Spirit to celebrate Zachary.
