Caroline went to work full-time at 14. She left home, only returning for visits, at 16. In her early 30's she came to the US to work in her older sister's boarding house/tavern, where she met a young airman, Eugene, whom she would marry in 1950, and stay married to until his death 50 years later.
They had two daughters, Theresa (Henry) and Kathleen.
Caroline died on May 2nd, 2019, at home with loving family. Besides her daughters, that family grew to include three granddaughters, Caroline (Brad), Christine, and Jacqueline. Her great grandchildren came along, widening the circle of love: Courtney, Cameron (Giuliana), Taylor, Josephine, Skyler and Gavin. Her two step great-grands, Kaely and Austin, were lovingly welcomed into her family.
Caroline is survived, in addition to immediate family, by three nephews, Donald, Bruno and Ricky, and a great nephew, Savarone, in the US, and many family members in Europe.
There were never enough hours in the day for Caroline. She was always busy, sewing, knitting, crocheting, gardening, handling lots of home improvement, walking miles daily at the track, and when that was no longer possible, swimming several days a week at her local "Y" until she was 98 years old.
Caroline had a strong and steady faith, believing in the power of prayer. She and her entire family were life-long Catholics, and she never missed a Sunday mass.
Caroline loved her family fiercely. She was an amazing mom, Oma, and great-grandmother.
She will be forever loved and missed.
