Donald James Burns

Donald is survived by his six children Patrick Burns (Debbie), Pamela Anderson, Katie Burns (John Rocke), Charlotte Lawrence (Matt), Branden Burns, and David Burns; his brothers Michael Burns, Thomas Burns and Dennis Burns; his sister Colleen Sharp; his eight grandchildren Nicholas Burns, Zachary Bilyeu, Gregory Bilyeu, Brenna Bilyeu, Shane Burns, Dana Jacobs, Eli Gibford and Emma Gibford; and his three great-grandchildren Riley Burns, Cian Bilyeu and Devin Burns. He is pre-deceased by his parents; his brothers Kevin Burns and Timothy Burns; and his sister Maureen Harrison.

Donald was born in Chicago, Illinois, on October 18, 1942, to Donald Thomas Burns and Kathleen June Burns. After graduating from Bishop Alemany High School, he served in the United States Army where he was awarded the Good Conduct Medal. Donald worked for Union Oil and Sparkletts Water, and then moved to the Lake Arrowhead area to start his own business in construction. He was a part of remodeling many homes on the mountain over several decades. He also became a volunteer engineer with Crest Forest Fire Protection District in the 1980’s and 1990’s. This was important work to Donald as he loved the beauty of the mountains.

A funeral mass is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. on August 28, 2021, at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Lake Arrowhead. Flowers, donations and condolences can be made at that time.
