Proud husband, father, grandfather and friend Gilbert “Peewee” Guerro Lopez, 86, peacefully passed away on the afternoon of Tuesday, March 23, at his home in San Bernardino, while comforted and surrounded by his family.
He was born in San Bernardino on September 17, 1934 to John Lopez and Catalina Guerro (both of Guerro, MX); he was one of seven children.
What Gilbert valued most in life was family and friends, many remember him for being present in times of need and always having the best interest of those he loved most.
Aside from his love of family and friends, Gilbert was an avid hunter, camping enthusiast and had an appreciation for nature. He’s hunted across the state of California, Colorado, Utah, Wyoming and had the opportunity to travel to places like Niagara Falls, Canada and New York City.
Gilbert worked for the Santa Fe Railway in San Bernardino and in his earlier years picked apples at Los Rios Rancho in Oak Glen...where he had the opportunity to connect with and be surrounded by nature.
His children and grandchildren will always remember him for being one of the original pranksters, making everyone laugh with his witty responses and hysterical antics.
To date, every single one of his grandchildren and even some great grandchildren have a lighthearted/humorous nickname personalized by Gilbert; it’s a nickname they will cherish and laugh about amongst one another for many years to come.
Gilbert is preceded in death by his wife Eloise Lopez (2011) and survived by his nine children, 33 grandchildren, 57 great grandchildren and 21 great-great grandchildren.
