My heart was broken when you left us to go on your journey with angels.
You were such a kind hearted, calm, warm, friendly, jokester. Your laugh was unique. Your smile contagious.
Our talks in the car to and from work were amazing. You brought me up when I was down, made me strong when I felt weak. Made me walk straight when I couldn’t stand up. Taught me about music and movies I had not seen. Made sure I knew what kind of Doritos he liked (specific flavor not sold in many stores).
Your love for your kids and grand-babies.  Always saying and I mean ALWAYS how Alex would be the heir after he left this world. Heir to the Romero fortune.
Your costumes when it was Halloween at work, classic.
I can go on and on. Marisa how proud he was sending you flowers’s on your birthday since you were five. Know this, his heart will always bloom in you .
He was always there for all his friends. A one of a kind guy. How you will be missed.

Jaime, not only were you a good friend to our family but our brother for many years.  Thank you, for your generosity and help for my husband you always went out of your way to accommodate and help George.  You picked him up to go watch the  Rams vs Bills game his team the mariachis were right behind your seats! Great memories to cherish forever RIP Brother 🙏🏻

My deepest condolences to the family. I was a friend of Jimmy and it seems like just the other day that I saw him at his mother's house. Whenever I saw him he always had a smile on his face. He was  always sincere in asking me how I was . I remember him from the Mecha days at valley. I pray that the family will feel the Lord's Presence and that He will comfort every individual.

Jaime- ironically I am writing from a hospital bed about my sadness for your family’s loss but also to express my gratitude that your pain and suffering are over knowing that you are now resting in peace with God’s grace and care.  I am hopeful my surgery recovery will enable my travel to pay respects to you and your family at your memorial event- though being here now I can’t help reflecting on how major health struggles have imposed on both our older lives but also how all the joys of sharing in the evolutions of our children/grandchildren’s lives have helped ease us into finding faith and acceptance of God’s will through it all. I also see in these written remembrances how your loss is also causing us to look back on other special shared youthful memories- like the many Mechistas at the SBVC Centro that still hold dear- ala Cesar’s Huelga protests/fundraising rallies, Teatro skits, Folklorico events/trips to Pintas, Tom’s newsletter “Toons” and that WAR concert/riot on the quad!. I especially hold close those memories after becoming compadres with you and Mina- who I still look on as one of the most graceful selfless loving people I have ever known. You both have left those special fond memories of partying and times we were able stay in touch as the changes in our lives and circumstances allowed. I especially regret we couldn’t end up meeting that last recent  visit we set up in SB but I do appreciate Marisa’s loving account of how bravely you found your way to God’s peace with your family’s loving care and how well you planned ahead to help ease the burden of your loss upon them. Jimmy was my dear friend since fourth grade, He made himself noticed, I had to turn my head to see who the new kid was challenging the teacher and cracking one liners. He was a brilliant guy.  In fifth grade he said he was Honest Jim, and could not tell a lie. In sixth grade he read the back of a bag of chips, all the chemicals, and  threw it down,  ‘They are trying to kill us with our food,’ he observed,   Another time playing with a toy that immediately broke, he decided he needed to know who made it, ‘Made in Japan!’ He then observed they made bad products, but all their trying might end up somewhere.  I had to scream at him on the school bus to stop spitting spit balls  from straws at Rosella and I.  He could be unruly.
 We joined MECHA and got food commodities as starving college students. When Jimmy saw how much we got he was taken aback. Then he mused that us hitting the candy machine must have made an impact on the social workers,  ‘ We looked hungry,’ he said,  We were having a Chicano 6 protest at SBVC, so his brother Manuel had all the moms in the Flats cook food for the protestors. Jimmy said the movie “The Strawberry Statement”  was our protest story.  
My husband and Jimmy met and enjoyed a bromance, He would text Jimmy, often during his illness, to say Sylvia and I are thinking of you.
We all got married.
We all had kids.
We all worked and retired.
And now we are departing one by one. It hurts.
I have him etched in my heart forever. 
This is not easy.  We became confidants,  He told me he expected to live up to his nineties. I told him I never imagined losing him. He was such a big part of my life, ❤️

Condolences to Marissa and the family for the loss of Jaime. We remember the good times we shared at Valley College in the early 70s. Jimmy was always a positive, happy, go-lucky guy who could always put a smile on our faces. Rest in peace Jimmy, the world is a little dimmer without you, Judy and Tom Acosta

Jaime was a leader, a mentor, and a good genuine man.  I want to express my deepest condolences to his family.  He always  shared great moments about his son and daughter and  his grandchildren . He was a good friend and will be missed.

I had the pleasure of working  with Jaime at SCE. He was a very kind and gentle person. He appreciated all of his colleagues. I am so very sorry for your loss.

I was so saddened to hear of Jaime’s passing. I have so many fond memories of spending time with Alex and the family on Rogers Lane—I’m so grateful to have been included at birthday parties, baby showers, company picnics, and those awesome Christmas parties. Jaime always made me feel welcome and part of the fun. I’ll never forget the laughter we shared or the generosity he showed—especially when he let us enjoy those amazing Lakers games with his season tickets.

I also loved watching Jaime enjoy life in retirement—he truly made the most of it. Whether traveling, volunteering, spending time with loved ones, or simply enjoying life’s little pleasures, it was clear he was savoring every moment.

While I’m heartbroken over this loss, I find comfort in knowing he is no longer in pain. I’m truly grateful for the memories and the warmth he brought into so many lives. Sending all my love and deepest condolences to the family.
