

“Jeff” (as he was known by his friends) was born on March 1, 1930 in Thomaston, Georgia. He graduated in June 1947 from R. E. Lee High School and soon after joined the Air Force and served during the Korean War. Jeff worked in Base Services Division from 1952 to 1967 (as a civilian) at Norton Air Force Base and also was an Agent for Farmers Insurance for 25 years. He was an Avid Golfer and a Citizen’s Patrol volunteer with the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department; a Life Member and Past Commander of AL Post #155 Colton 1965-1966; Past District Commander 1971–1972 and Past Chef de Gare of Voiture 36 with 40/8 in 1976.
On March 29, 2021 Jefferson D. Cox, Jr. passed quietly at home, to join his parents - Jefferson D. Cox, Sr. & Mary (Helms) Cox and sister Betty (Cox) Searcy.
He leaves behind his loving Wife of 68 years Mary (Scovel) Cox, Daughter Cheri, Son-in Law Richard Bronstrup, and “The Girls” - His nieces: Linda (Searcy) Graves, Nancy (Searcy) Edwards and Dawn Searcy.
The family wants to Thank Rhonda, Jeff’s social worker and The Bristol Hospice Team (Riverside). A Very Special Heartfelt Thanks especially to Bronwen for her thoughtfulness & caring enough to start the process to help this Veteran receive some comfort & assistance. The extra care given by Bradley; as well as Annmarie, Liz, Clare, Mayte, know that you all have a special place in our hearts.
A Big Huge Hug and Thank You to our loyal & loving friends: Marina, Gae, Debbie and Nicole for all their help and support.
Interment will be at Mountain View Cemetery and there will be no formal services, as he requested. Thanks Zachary & Kenneth for your assistance and compassion.
The family plans to place flowers & play “Taps” after interment is completed
