John Prentiss Adams Jr.

John P. (JP) Adams Jr, age 86, passed away at his home in San Bernardino, CA on September 9, 2022. He was born in Brookhaven, Mississippi on December 29, 1935, to John Sr and Esther Marie Adams. He is survived by three sons: Marlon Allen, Michael (Monica) Adams, Charles Burris, and one daughter: Pamela Adams; two brothers: Thomas Adams (Illinois), Wilkie Adams (Arizona); and two sisters: Dorothy Jean Ball (Mississippi), Sadie Adams (Massachusetts); and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and grandchildren.

JP was very proud of serving in the US Air Force as an MP, and upon retirement, he went on to enjoy a second career as a police officer for the San Bernardino Unified School District. He also managed to find the time to start his own lawn service. He was an avid sports fan and loved watching football, baseball, basketball, golf, and horse racing, plus he also enjoyed fishing and playing golf. Additionally, one of his favorite pastimes was staying up late and watching old westerns into the wee hours.

He also loved spending time with family and friends and spent many hours driving all over the country to attend weddings, reunions, anniversaries, and other gatherings. Additionally, he was very generous and gladly helped anyone in need. JP was cherished by all who knew him and surely will be missed.

A memorial service for John will be held Saturday, October 1, 2022 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Mt. View Mortuary & Cemetery, 570 East Highland Ave, San Bernardino, CA 92404.
