Julia Macias was born on September 24, 1950 in San Bernardino. She graduated from Pacific High in 1969. Julia worked for the San Bernardino County Hospital, which later became the Arrowhead Regional Medical Center as a Burn Technician. Julia worked countless hours day and night to provide for her three children. In her home, Julia taught her children and grandchildren the responsibility of life and proved day-in and day-out that hard work and perseverance would conquer any feat. Her family remembers her as a kind, loving, supportive, strong mother and grandmother who encouraged her family and friends to always achieve their dreams and to never give up.
During her life, Julia was diagnosed with cancer twice, Hodgkin’s Disease and stomach cancer. Julia wielded her ever-amazing strength and beat her cancer. Julia would go on to undertake two heart surgeries and always fought her hardest to recover and emerge stronger than ever. After 27 years of working, Julia finally retired in 2015.
In her retirement Julia became a talented sewer and left behind many handmade quilts, blankets, table settings, purses and other personalized one-of a-kind gifts that will be handed down for generations to come. She was a kind-hearted spirit who loved spending time with her friends and family. She became a skilled cook, perfecting many different styles of food, but when Christmas came around the corner, the one dish she never needed to practice, which had always been perfect- her signature (and might we say famous)- tamales. She was always in the mood for a good laugh and was always quick to make everyone in the room laugh with her. Her laugh was infectious and filled the room with playful music that everyone gravitated towards.
A funeral is scheduled for 10:00 am on September 9, 2020 at Mt. View Cemetery. The family would like to thank Julia’s caregivers at Kaiser Permanente and Loma Linda Medical for their efforts and care over the past seven months, after the long and hard-fought endurance, Julia was able to come home and be surrounded by all of her loved ones before being taken from this world and into the kingdom.
