Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.mtviewsanbernardino.com for the Davis family.
Ken Davis was born on September 30th, 1953 by his mother, Beverly Davis and father Larry Davis while they vacationed in Vancouver, Washington. Ken lived the majority of his childhood years in Cottage Grove, Oregon with his sisters Elaine, Renee, Linda and his brother Doug. As he entered adulthood, he enlisted to the Air Force where we worked as a Firefighter and Fire Protection Specialist, ultimately achieving the rank of Sergeant and Fire Chief. Over the years he received countless accolades and honorable mentions. He retired from the Air Force in 1977 but continued working for the Fire Service at Norton Air Force Base as a Fire Captain.
Due to a career-ending knee injury, Ken had to make the difficult decision to leave the Fire Service. Over the next few years, Ken explored his options for a new career. In 2002, Ken graduated nursing school from San Bernardino Valley College. He then began his long career as a Registered Nurse, working at Mountains Community Hospital, Loma Linda University Medical Center and American Medical Response. Here he met countless co-workers that quickly became close friends. From then on he continued to cherish all the memories, laughs and friendships he made.
Throughout his life he established loving relationships including Penny (mother of Jennifer and Kenneth) and Elaine (mother of Jeromie, Jeanette and Steven). In 1985 while working as a technician at Sears, he met Jami (mother of Kristine). They quickly became inseparable and spent the next 36 years together sharing countless memories and building a beautiful life up in the mountains amongst the trees. Here they enjoyed going RVing and off-roading. As much as Ken savored the lazy days having a beer by the bonfire, he also had an adventurous streak in him. He often got a kick out of "white-knuckling" it while his girls drove the jeep up the side of hills in the San Bernardino Mountains.
As well as RVing in the mountains, he enjoyed taking it down and spending days at the beach and road-tripping cross-country to visit his family. Once the RV was parked you could find Ken popping a beer, playing his guitar (and the occasional broom) or listening to music such as Classic Rock, Country, Blues and his all-time favorite, Stevie Ray Vaughn.
Ken enjoyed the fall, not just for the weather but for football. He was a die-hard fan of the Seattle Seahawks and always made sure to let everyone know when the refs made a "bad call", which was often! Over the years he perfected a mean batch of chicken wings, that remained a crowd favorite.
In 2016, Ken was diagnosed with an aggressive form of Leukemia called AML (Acute Myeloid Leukemia). With all odds stacked against him, the doctors were unsure how long Ken's battle would last. For 5 years he endured chemotherapy, radiation, a bone marrow transplant and many other therapies and procedures. His primary oncologist, Dr. Sahebi, had a pivotal hand in his fight and continued to stick by his side. In fact, Dr. Sahebi began lovingly calling him her "Miracle Boy". Ken beat the odds for many years and showed everyone what love, determination and strength to never give up can do in the face of adversity. On November 30th, 2021, Ken ended his battle with Leukemia with Jami and Kristine at his side.
Ken has left his legacy behind with his sons and daughters, Jennifer, Kenneth, Jeromie, Jeanette, Steven and Kristine, his grandchildren and great-grandson. He also lives on in the stories and memories we will continue to share for many years to come. His laughter will be missed and his love remembered.
