Lou Fernandez is the reason I have lived in Colorado for almost 50 years. As an undergraduate, ,he got me my first job at the US Geologic Survey in Denver. We reconnected over 10 years ago and I regret not staying in touch. He was an amazing human being.

Gone from our sights but never from our hearts.  
I first met Lou as an undergrad in geology in New Orleans.  Little did I know then that we would keep in touch throughout the years.  Lou was a mentor,  actively listening, never judging, and consistently giving thoughtful advice.  Lou had this great disposition about him, I always felt uplifted after speaking to him.  He just knew the right thing to say.  He was such a kind man, and I am glad to have been able to have known him.  We used to write about once a year with each other for years, and I will miss him so much.  It saddens my heart greatly to know that he is gone.
The photo that I have added was taken at a restaurant during the Spring of 1994 when I was working a traveling therapy assignment in Southern California & Lou was working at San Bernardino University.  This was the last time I saw Lou, and I will cherish the memory always.  Miss you Lou, Robin
