Shirley Ann Johnson

Shirley Ann Johnson, age 81, died January 9, 2016 at Kaiser Permanente Hospital in Fontana, CA. She was born on November 9, 1934 in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, the second of Ambrose Mathias and Marjorie Frances Petrie’s two children. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Richard Alan Johnson, and her sister Janet Mae Petrie Archibald. Survivors include her children: Brett Alan Johnson, wife Linda Susan Orth, and children Darin Lee and daughter Tara Lynn; Julie Ann, husband Robert Alex Miechowicz, and children Jennifer Nicole and Kelli Ann; Richard Alan Johnson II, wife Jennifer Lee Watson.

When Shirley was entering high school, her family moved from Fond du Lac, Wisconsin to Pasadena, California, where her parents invested and built a apartment complex/lodge. She attended high school at Holy Angels in Arcadia. After graduation, she attended Pasadena City College and studied accounting. She later moved to San Francisco where she worked as a bookkeeper and had fond memories of living in “the City”. On June 6, 1959 she married, Dick Johnson, and continued to live in the Bay Area. In 1967 she moved to Southern California with her family to Santa Ana. A few years later she moved to San Bernardino. Shirley worked as a Bank Teller for several years at Norton Air Force Base, and retired from Wells Fargo Bank. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends camping, especially in the Sierras every summer. Her children and grandchildren were everything to her. She will be greatly missed.

A private Memorial Service will be held on Friday, January 29, 2016 at 11:00 am at Mt. View Mortuary in San Bernardino.
