Alfredo Maneclang Garrido was born May 15, 1962 and was laid to rest on April 16, 2022. His aunts and uncles referred to him as Bong, his co-workers called him Freddie or downtown Freddie Brown, and kids called him Uncle Buzz. We called him Fred. Whatever name we called him, we knew him as a kind-hearted, honest, hard working, generous, fun, and loving person. He had more qualities than these, and those who were part of his life knew his character or what kind of a person he was. Fred was a social person. He would start a conversation with anyone, even with a stranger passing by. He can befriend anyone by relating to them his life experiences. He kept in touch with Marlon, his friend from Junior High and work friends for more than 25 years, Bill and Leonard. Other friends include Oscar, Carlo and Peter, but he always said that his wife was his best friend. Fred had multiple grade school awards including the Presidential award, and medals in Track and Field. He was an entrepreneur at a young age of 18 when he started a commercial cleaning business which lasted 30 years, and a limousine service in his 20's. He accomplished these, even while working for Copley Press full time where he retired as Facilities Supervisor after 30 years. He was a member of "Style," a Low Rider Car Club in his teens, and served as compliance officer for Verrazzano Homeowners Association prior to becoming ill.
Fred lived life to its fullest, and enjoyed sharing his accomplishments with family and friends. He also shared moments with those who needed a helping hand, advice or just a shoulder to cry on. He was such a big kid at heart who liked to joke around, and collect toys. His favorite was Buzz Lightyear from Disney's Toy Story. Buzz signified Fred’s belief in doing the unattainable, living happily, and loving those around us…to infinity and beyond.
Fred, you will forever remain in our hearts with all the memories of you. Rest in peace in paradise, until we meet again.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.sorrentovalleychapel.com for the Garrido family.
