Alice Morris grew up in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She became a registered nurse and accepted a commission in the Navy Nurse Corps during World War II. She was sent to Memphis, TN where she met and married the love of her life, Dexter Lacy, in April 1944. They had seven children together. They moved to California in 1960 and to San Diego in 1961. Alice was a wonderful wife and mother, who devoted herself to her children and grandchildren. She was generous and always willing to help everyone with anything they needed. She was a good cook and produced wonderful big meals for all the family. One of her small grandchildren once remarked, “Nanny says, ‘I love you’ with food”. She had a wonderful sense of humor. She was all her life a devoted Catholic. She volunteered as school nurse at St. Patrick’s School for several years. She and Dexter were Eucharistic ministers at St. Patrick’s for many years. She was an inspiration to all of us.
She is survived by her husband of 73 years, Dexter James Lacy, their daughters Patricia Schneider (Bill), Mary Lacy, Joan Seiley (Paul), Margaret Stewart (Joe), Susan Zuanich (Larry), their son Jim Lacy, fourteen grandchildren, and twelve great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by their son, Dexter, Jr. and a grandson. The funeral Mass will be at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in North Park on Tuesday, February 14 at 10 AM . In lieu of flowers please make a Donation to Father Joe’s Village (St Vincent's) San Diego.
