Angelo Koros was born on October 27th, 1927 in Exohi, Argos, Greece to Theodore Koros and Sophia Koros. He was the oldest of three children, with one brother, Peter Koros and one sister Ekaterini Koros. The family moved to Shinohori a few years later to be closer to the city of Argos. Angelo and his family lived off the land and they also raised sheep. At the age of 14, Angelo abruptly lost his father when he was shot and killed outside their home during WWII. Consequently as the oldest child he worked as a sheep herder and managed the family land in the mountains of Shenohori, Greece. He supported his mother and helped support his brother and his late sister, as they attended school. In 1955 he decided to immigrate to Australia and worked on the railroad lines doing electrical work as well as laying lines. He lived in Adelaide and travelled throughout the country for 7 years. He developed quite a fondness for Australia however in 1962 he moved to California to be closer to his brother, mother and sister in Oakland, CA. The brothers worked at a grocery store in Oakland for many years until they decided to start their own grocery stores in the San Francisco Bay Area. He met the love of his life in Toronto, Canada after being "set up" by his cousin. Voula Koros became his wife on February 23rd, 1969. They welcomed their first child, Eleni in 1970, their second child, Theodora in 1971, and their third child Theodore in 1972. Angelo settled his with his family in Belmont, CA and spent many of his years there making lifelong friends and being a loving and caring father, husband, and friend. They were long time members of the Holy Cross Church in Belmont in San Mateo County. Retirement did not suit him well so in 2001 he decided to move to San Diego with his wife to continue his love of real estate investment. Angelo and Voula enjoyed their lifestyle in beautiful San Diego. They made new friends and discovered a new devotion to the Church. Angelo’s favorite and happiest times were in the company of his grandchildren, Daphne Aggeliki Gavros, Zoe Elena Gavros, Viktora Angelo Economus and Theodore Jr. Koros. Angelo Koros departed on August 31st, 2016 in his home in Carlsbad, with Voula and Eleni by his side. Angelo will always be remembered by his unselfish and unconditional love for his family, his humor, and his adoration of his grandchildren. May his memory be eternal. The family wishes to acknowledge their gratitude for all those who travelled from a long distance to honor Angelo Koros’s life.
