Barbara Ann Festa

Barbara Ann Festa May 6, 1935 - October 30, 2015 La Jolla Barbara Ann Festa, age 80, passed away on October 30, 2015 in La Jolla, California with her loving family by her side. Barbara was born May 6, 1935, in Brooklyn, New York, the daughter of William and Mary Walsh. Barbara was raised in Larchmont, New York and attended Academy of Mount Saint Vincent, where she graduated in 1952. Barbara went on to attend New Rochelle Hospital School of Nursing, and graduated in 1956 as a registered nurse. In 1958, Barbara married the love of her life, Vincent John Festa and they raised their four children in Hollywood, Florida before moving to La Jolla, California upon Vincent's retirement. Family and Friends were Barbara's passion and delight. Barbara was also a devout Catholic who relied on her faith throughout her life. Barbara and Vincent were active parishioners in Our Mother of Confidence Catholic Church. Barbara is survived by her husband Vincent, as well as her son Stephen Festa, daughters Dianne Festa and Karen Malossi and her youngest son, Kevin Festa. Barbara also leaves behind eight adoring grandchildren who loved her dearly, as well as her loving sister, Irene Byrne. There will be a private viewing for family and friends on November 9th from 4-8pm at Merkley-Mitchell Mortuary, 3655 5th Avenue, San Diego, CA. The funeral mass will be held on November 10 at 10:30am at Our Mother of Confidence Catholic Church, 3131 Governor Drive, San Diego, CA. and will be officiated by Father Donal Sheahan.
