

After high school, Doreen moved to Salt Lake City, UT to go to business college at Stevens-Henager where she was reacquainted with Paul Bracken. They got married in 1958 in Las Vegas, NV and moved to San Diego to raise their family. Later on, in their lives Doreen worked alongside Paul when they bought a small camera repair business in 1979 until they retired in 1999.
Doreen spent her life in service. Service to her family, her fellow-man, and her God. Doreen leaves a legacy of love for her family, and a passion of quilting with friends. In her later years, as she found it difficult to travel, she enjoyed FaceTime, Snapchat and phone calls with her family. As a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day saints she served in many positions throughout her life including serving in the Ohio Kirtland Mission from 1999-2000 and in the San Diego temple with Paul.
Doreen is survived by her daughter Roxann (Chris) Evensen, Choteau, MT; Son-in-Law Dan Spring, Spring Valley, CA. Six grandchildren: Alysia (Spring) Elijah, Chad Spring, Katie (Evensen) Adams, Kevin Evensen, Erik Evensen, and Tyler Evensen; and nineteen great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by Paul, her parents, and her brother Clifford. Three days after Doreen’s death her daughter Janice Spring passed away.
A viewing will be held 6:30-7:30 p.m. Thursday, 30 May 2024, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at 4741 Mt. Abernathy Avenue, San Diego, CA
A service will be held at 1:30 – 2 p.m. Friday, 31 May 2024, at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery, San Diego, CA at 1700 Cabrillo Memorial Dr, San Diego, CA
