

Bruce B. Pfefferkorn of Escondido, California passed away on March 1, 2026 at the age of 74. He was born on June 10, 1951 at Balboa Naval Hospital in San Diego where he grew up with stints of time in Hawaii and Maryland in his youth being the son of a career Navy family.
He graduated from San Diego State University with a degree in Vocational Education.
He worked as a San Diego Police Officer, rising to the rank of Captain over his 32 year career earning numerous accolades and commendations during that time. In 2004 Bruce completed a program in International Law Enforcement at the FBI National Academy in Quantico, Virginia. Bruce retired from the SDPD in 2006.
He was actively involved in the Blue Knights Motorcycle Organization and volunteered his time working at the San Diego Police Historical Museum as well as projects for Habitat for Humanity including a very special two week project with his wife, Kathleen when they worked in New Orleans, LA helping to rebuild homes after Hurricane Katrina. Bruce enjoyed traveling the world with Kathleen and their friends, riding his motorcycle, playing golf and hosting his family and friends for many backyard BBQ’s cooking up delicious meals for all to enjoy. He was most content when tending to his garden and working on projects at the home he loved.
Bruce is preceded in death by his father, Bernhard Pfefferkorn.
He is survived by his wife, Kathleen, mother Rosemarie Pfefferkorn, Son Kevin Pfefferkorn and his wife, Rachel, and his granddaughter Elena, brother David Pfefferkorn and his partner Joyce, sister in law Anne Clifton and her husband Geoff and brother in law Kevin Meehan, former wife Sandra Pfefferkorn and many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank our dearest friends and family for supporting us throughout Bruce’s health challenges over the past seven years and the medical team at UCSD and Together Hospice for the care and compassion they showed Bruce in his final days.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Bruce’s life at El Camino Memorial on Friday, April 17th at 1:00 PM. Interment to follow at El Camino Memorial. Reception to follow at El Camino Memorial following the Interment.
