Bruce Frank Werth

January 15, 1935 to February 3, 2018

Bruce F. Werth (83) was born in New York City where he spent his earliest years with his mother and family. Bruce's high school years were spent in Broward County Florida with other relatives. College for Bruce was at Michigan State which he loved dearly. After Bruce earned his Bachelor's degree he joined the U. S. Army. They sent him to Wurzberg, Germany for 2 years. He was an educator in Wurzberg. While in Germany he traveled extensively with friends through as many of the countries as they could fit into their adventures. He gained a first hand look at the cultures and traditions and beauty of Germany and many other European countries. After he completed his time in the army he returned to Michigan State for his Masters Degree. He earned his teaching degree there and majored in social sciences and history. He immediately began teaching in about 1961/1962 for San Diego City Schools at Correia Jr. High School in Point Loma, San Diego area. On occasion he taught summer schools in random schools but otherwise his entire 39 years of teaching were completed at Correia. In 1968 Bruce married Delia Oschman They shared 49 wonderful years together.. Their one daughter, Jenny, was born in the 70's. Bruce loved sports, especially basketball, football and snow skiing. He enjoyed reading, history, politics, real estate, traveling, camping, snow skiing, visiting with family and friends and much more. Bruce will be forever in our hearts. Bruce's memorial communion service and reception is on Tuesday, February 20 at 11 AM at St. Brigid's Church located at 4735 Cass Street San Diego (Pacific Beach) California 92109; The church phone number is (858) 483-3010. Bruce's visitation will be on Tuesday, February 13 from 10 AM to noon at Pacific Beach Chapel (Dignity) located at 4710 Cass Street San Diego, California 92109 (directly across the street from St. Brigid's Church).
