Clara Marie Daniel

Clara Marie Daniel, age 94, passed away late Thursday evening, April 24, 2025, at Scripps Mercy Hospital, San Diego, CA. She was born December 27,1930 in Tiffin, Ohio to the late Vern and Clara (Hohman) Daniel.

Marie, as she preferred to be called, was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Bob Daniel Sr; and sisters, Rita Ritch and Arlene Daniel, and her dear friend, Betty Kuhn.

Marie graduated from Tiffin Calvert High School and St. Vincent’s School of Nursing Toledo, Ohio. She was a Registered Nurse for over 40 years in Tiffin, Ohio and then San Diego, California. She retired from Children’s Hospital where she served as a surgical nurse supervisor.

For 20 years after she retired, Marie volunteered over 2,000 hours at the Veterans Health Clinic in San Diego where she received recognition for her many years of service. She also volunteered in bereavement, prayer chain, Eucharistic and quilting ministries at St. Catherine Labouré Catholic Church, where she was a member for over 40 years.

Marie will be fondly remembered for her kind and generous heart, her sense of humor and her ability to be a friend to everyone. She gave wonderful advice, and had a strong faith in Jesus. Marie loved dogs and had several during her long life. She will be deeply missed by her family and many friends.

Marie is survived by her nieces: Sr. Carol Daniel, Springfield, IL; Elaine Daniel ( spouse Jon Mittler), St. George UT; and Rebecca (Anthony) Searcy, University Heights, OH; and nephew Bob (Jan) Daniel Jr, Rochester, NY. She is also survived by many great and great-great nieces and nephews.

‍A funeral mass will be held Tuesday June 3,11:30am at St. Catherine Labourè, San Diego. A private interment will follow in the Garden of the Little Flower at the Mission San Luis Rey de Francia in Oceanside, California. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to charities of the donor’s choice.
