He was deeply respected in his professional life and is already profoundly missed.
Dave’s journey began in Southampton, England, and he spent his formative years on the Isle of Man. Returning to the island with his family, he became involved in the family business, Miller Motors, where his passion for engineering took root. At 17, he pursued an apprenticeship with Rolls-Royce through the University of Derby, earning a bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering. At 24, he emigrated to Montreal, Canada, where he obtained a second bachelor's degree in Physics from Concordia University and an Executive MBA from McGill University. His expertise in revitalizing struggling organizations took him to various locations, including Nova Scotia, Montreal, California, Ohio, Florida, and Texas, where he continued to excel and lead with passion. His work brought him immense satisfaction as it aligned perfectly with his love for challenges and innovation.
Outside of his professional achievements, Dave was a man of many interests. He loved to travel, watch English soccer, and read extensively about World War II and anything related to space, ships, or airplanes. His zest for life was contagious, and he never missed an opportunity to celebrate. Dave's warm and caring nature made everyone around him feel at ease. He found immense joy in teaching his children and grandchildren about space and building planes, trains, and rocketships with them. His playful spirit and ability to make them laugh will always be remembered.
