David was a remarkable man who lived life to it's fullest. His greatest virtue was that he loved people. Even as a small boy, when the spent summers on Plum Island he would manage to get past locked doors, over a busy street and let himself into his friend's houses. Sometimes it was a young bachelor friend who happened to have brought a lady friend home. This deter not deter David, he would just go into the bedroom, lean over and say "good morning". Thus he began to be known as "The Mayor of Plum Island."
David attended Stanford University and was then drafted into the Army. He was the only one in his OCS class not sent to Vietnam, but instead to France, where he closed down bases after France threw us out.
From France he was stationed in Germany, where he met Sandee who was to become his wife of 52 years.
Upon graduation, he went to work as a CPA for Arthur Young in Boston. He transferred to California, where he met Richard Burns, who became his best friend and business partner. They started and rescued many businesses together listening to all kinds of unique opportunities and flew all over the coutnry to do business deals including NUCORP, an oil and gas company which was the fastest growing company in the U.S. at one time; and DTI, a company that made the product which sputtered gold onto plastic film which made bomber planes and missiles invisible to radar which they sold to the government.
David was a very warm and loving husband, father, grandfather, father-in-law and friend, known for his wisdom, generosity, kindness, and love of life. He is survived by his wife Sandee Watt, his daughter Rebecca Watt and her husband James Pegram, and his granddaughter Lanexa Pegram. He will be greatly missed!
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.sorrentovalleychapel.com for the Watt family.
