

Dona Mari Gough (Bozarth), age 73 of Point Loma, ended her battle with Pancreatic Cancer on June 18, 2016. She passed peacefully holding her daughter Erika’s hand surrounded by her adoring family. Dona was born to Rita and Warren Bozarth in Escondido. She graduated from Escondido HS and obtained a BA in Education from SDSU. In her youth Dona was a competitive equestrian. She was Queen of the Valley Riders and a Cheerleader. Dona loved to read and was knowledgeable on many different topics from gardening to art history. Dona married John Gough her high school sweetheart after graduation and together they raised four daughters and ran commercial fishing boat business. After Dona’s children were grown she worked as a special education assistant at Point Loma HS where she was much loved for her humor and kindness.
Dona loved her family with fierce dedication. She was a also a fun and spirited Grandmother. Besides spending time with her children and friends Dona loved to travel. She liked to say she was half Gypsy because she loved her home but was always planning her next adventure. Dona traveled to many exotic locations. She visited almost every continent and explored different cultures and art with great enthusiasm. She would always bring home mementos to her ever growing family.
Dona is survived by John Gough and her four daughters and spouses: Shawna and Mark Duncan, Krista and Eric Bockstahler, Erika and Jason Balelo and Riya and Max Gough. She is also survived by 9 grandchildren. Services will be held at Saint Agnes Church on July 2nd at 11:00 AM.
