

Doris P. James (nee Kaslly), 91, of La Jolla, passed away on Thursday, November 12, 2015. Doris was born on April 5, 1924 in Center Line, MI. Her parents were John and Pauline Kaslly. Doris was one of five children; her siblings were Verna, John, Richard, and Robert. She was a business college graduate. Doris married Richard James on January 25, 1947. They were married for 56 years. The Jameses made their home in the suburbs of Detroit, MI where Richard worked for General Motors and Doris worked first for the VA, and then for Atwood as an executive secretary. General Motors sent them on assignment to Mexico City before they retired to La Jolla in 1975. Doris was a faithful parishioner of All Hallows Catholic Church. She was dedicated to her bowling league and was a member of the 200 Club and the San Diego 500 Club. Doris and Richard were committed to the Meals on Wheels program and happily volunteered with them for 10 years. She enjoyed gardening and especially caring for her roses. Doris delighted in her luck during her trips to Las Vegas with her husband, and in later years, with the slots at the local casinos. Doris is survived by her sister, Verna Berger, of Michigan, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her devoted husband, Richard, in 2003, her siblings, John Kaslly, Robert Kaslly, and Richard Kaslly. A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, December 2, 2015, at 12:00 noon, following an 11:30 a.m. viewing at All Hallows Catholic Church, 6602 La Jolla Scenic Drive S, La Jolla, CA 92037.
