Dwight Baits passed away at the age of 87 in San Diego, California. He was born in Illinois to Edwin and Lela Baits. The family moved to San Diego in 1941. Dwight was preceded in death by his wife Lynn Singleton Baits, to whom he was married for 36 years. He is survived by his daughter Barbara Shustek of La Mesa, and sons Daniel, of San Diego, Kenneth, of Poway, and Gary of Olympia, WA. He has 10 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
Dwight graduated from Grossmont High School and San Diego State University (B.A., M.S.) and served in the United States Air Force. He worked as a Certified Public Accountant for a number of businesses and later had his own CPA practice. He was an ardent fan of the San Diego State Aztecs, attending football and basketball games, and also rooted for the Chargers and Padres. Dwight was also a lifelong Cubs fan, and his waiting finally paid off in 2016! He was a member of Lake Murray Kiwanis and the Aztec Athletic Foundation. He coached Little League, and enjoyed family gatherings and camping trips. Dwight was a man of faith and was active in his church. His health declined significantly in the past few years and his family rejoices in the hope of the resurrection.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 3rd at 11:00 a.m. at Windsor Hills Community Church 7485 Orien Ave, La Mesa, CA 91941.
