F. Ruth Porter

Porter, Florence Ruth (Gardner) 11/22/1932 ~ 09/28/2013 LA MESA -- Born in Glendale, CA, "Ruth", a career residential realty appraiser, lived and worked in La Mesa, CA and in Yuma, AZ, in her family business, Porter Appraisals. She was preceded in

death by her late husbands, Gordon E. Porter and Daniel "Al" Bocek. Ruth grew up in Glendale, CA, graduated Glendale H.S. and

attended L.A. City College. She enjoyed cruising along the coast of Mexico, by boat, and later, land-cruising in an RV. Creative all her life, she learned to make custom wet suits, do upholstery and draw with pastels. She loved her many dogs, the last years,

devoted to Golden Retrievers. In the years before his passing, she cared for Gordon, a Parkinson patient. Ruth died in Lemon Grove, CA of lung cancer. She is survived by her daughter Cheryl Armstrong, sons John and Michael Porter of San Diego, her son

Daniel Porter, nephew James Gardner and her grand niece Charity McElroy of Los Angeles. Grandchildren include David, Brian, Matt, Melissa and Mason Porter. She leaves dear friends from her life and travels. Some include: Martha Brown of Ventura, CA and Lewie and JoAnn Applington of Oregon.
