Gaudencio “Gody” Santiago Martinez, the eldest son of Arsenio and Maria Martinez, was born on October 28, 1940, in San Antonio Nueva, Ecija, Philippines. Gody is survived by his beloved wife of 60yrs, Bonita Martinez, daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Steve Adan-Burks, and daughter, Jennifer Martinez Piranio; grandchildren: Alex Adan, Nyko Adan, Dominique & husband, Jake Patrao, Peter Piranio Jr., and Jalina Piranio; Siblings: Gloria & husband, Mario Nuguid, Conrado & wife, Nor Martinez, & Joel & wife, Lisa Martinez.

Gody’s birth marked the beginning of a life filled with love, purpose, and unwavering dedication to God, his family and community. From a young age, Gody exhibited a strong sense of responsibility and compassion, attributes that would define his character throughout his life. Growing up as the eldest amongst six siblings, Gody embraced his role as guiding light for his family, always ready to offer support and encouragement to those around him.

As Gody embarked on his journey through life, he pursued his passions with fervor and determination. Whether in his professional endeavors or personal pursuits, Gody approached every challenge with grace and integrity, earning the respect and admiration of all who encountered his path. Beyond his professional achievements, Gody’s greatest joy came from his roles as a loving husband, father, and grandfather. His devotion to his family knew no bound, and he cherished every moment spent with his loved ones, creating memories that will be treasured for generations to come. Gody’s impact extended far beyond the confines of his immediate circle. He was always ready to lend a helping hand to those in need and to spread kindness and a huge dose of laughter wherever he went. Gody’s legacy of compassion and generosity will continue to inspire all who knew him. Though Gody may no longer be with us physically, his spirit lives on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to have known him. His memory will forever be cherished, and his legacy will continue to shine brightly, guiding us through our life’s journey.

Service Details

On Wednesday, April 10, 2024, a visitation for Gody will be held from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM at El Camino Memorial - Sorrento Valley, 5600 Carroll Canyon Road, San Diego, CA 92121. A rosary will be held at 5:00 PM.

On Thursday, April 11, 2024, a visitation for Gody will be held from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM at El Camino Memorial - Sorrento Valley, 5600 Carroll Canyon Road, San Diego, CA 92121. A rosary will be held at 6:00 PM. A vigil service will be held at 6:30 PM, celebrated by Fr. Romeo Supnet.

On Friday, April 12, 2024, the funeral mass will be celebrated by Fr. Ignatius Kipchirchir from 8:45 AM to 9:45 AM at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 13541 Stoney Creek Road, San Diego, CA 92129.

A graveside service will follow from 11:00 AM to 11:30 AM at Miramar National Cemetery, 5795 Nobel Drive, San Diego, CA 92122. Line up in Lane 2 after 10:45 am.
