It’s been two years since you’ve been gone. I miss you everyday. Thanks for being my best friend.

You got me out of my comfort zone to experience new things. We would get in the truck to go on random adventures to try new food places and breweries, go camping, mountain biking, see the snow, and go visit the metal statues in the desert. Anything we did, I was just happy to be with you. You have enriched my world so much. 

You were so passionate about your creations, whether it be a cuisine you wanted to try or one of your woodworking projects. You took your time, did the research, and did your best even when you got frustrated. You wanted it to be perfect and your hard work showed it. You were always looking for new things you could try and challenge yourself. To this day, I still use my yarn box you made me. You were truly one of a kind. 

I was lucky enough to have you in my life. To love you and to be loved by you. To talk to you about anything and everything, even in silence. You cared for me and wanted me to be happy. You were always giving great advice and knowing how to calm me down when life got too hard. 
 
I want to thank you for all the laughs, the hugs, the adventures, the good food and for always loving me. I promise to cherish all the memories we had. You were the best person I ever met, the best thing to happen to me, and for that I will always love you. I will miss you every day and hope to see you again.

Dear Graig Jr., 
It’s been 6 months since we lost you. Going into 2024 without you hurts so much. 

Words cannot express how much you changed my life. You were the love of my life, my best friend, my rock, my safe space, and the person I told everything to. You were the person I always wanted to talk to and the person I still want to talk to; about all the good, the bad, and everything in between. You understood me like no one else had before.

You were my partner in anything and everything. We had fun playing video games together and we were always on the lookout for co-op games that we could enjoy together. We watched movies and tv shows almost every night and talked. We watched everything that was interesting but you would specifically choose something that I wouldn't fall asleep to and movies that we “need to watch at least once in our lifetime”. I remember when we first started dating, you came over and we watched Moana, you cracked up so hard when Moana discovered Hei'hei on the boat and wanted to share it with everyone! So we rewound it a couple of times just so you could get the right shot and share it. You always wanted to spread happiness anyway you could. You would make everyone laugh by doing silly little things and most of all you made me laugh from our many inside jokes. 

You cared about everyone in your life and could make a connection with anyone, even strangers. You loved your family and were so proud of what they were doing. You always saw the best in everyone and rooted for them on their plans and accomplishments. (1/2)

GP JR - You are missed, loved and in our hearts forever!  I am blessed to have known you for 15+ years and the 7+ years we worked together I will never forget, especially our trip up to Seattle and the good times we had!   You will always be part of my life and so many others and everyone who knows you, spent time with you and loved you as you loved everyone is a special thing that will never be forgotten.  You touched the lives of so many with your thoughtfulness, kindness, smile, laughter and so much more!  Your love for your family and friends was so pure and genuine! You had a heart of gold GP! I remember back in the day us meeting as kids in 6th grade. We became closer friends as we got older. Especially with our group. We’ve had times throughout the years when we were close buds. That was always a fun memory when I walked into the office at Sprouts and you were interviewing for a job. That was a fun time working with you and Luke. As time went on we lost in touch. But whenever I’d see you again we would pick right back up again and it was awesome. You came into Trader Joe’s over a year ago and it made my day. I hadn’t seen you in a while. You told me you had moved back into the area. I was really hoping to reconnect more with you and it pains me we won’t get that chance but I will forever cherish the time I did get with you. Rest easy brother. 

I miss you Graig. Reflecting on you and your impact on me, and countless others,  these last few weeks has been a roller coaster. Remembering thousands of memories of you brings a smile to my face because of all the laughs we shared. It also makes me cry knowing I can’t make more memories with you. We grew apart as we got older but your importance in my life never changed. You were one of my closest friends at such an important time in our lives. I feel lucky to have even known you at all. I love you brother.

It’s sad to think that this was the only night we truly got to hang out and really have a conversation even though we grew up seeing each other at family parties our whole lives.   In those moments of chatting between shots of tequila and beers, I met this amazing and loving human being.   Listening to your dreams of traveling and maybe convincing you to join the life in the air in between your aspirations of  building beautiful kitchens and bathrooms.   And then being a wing man and running around the club to find a girl to talk to, which I did and seeing that shy bashful side of you.   Then watch  how confident you become when you realize how much you have what it takes  and use your bright smile and charm.   

The night was full of laughter and tacos.    And just like that night, that memory will be remembered in my heart because even if we had missed the opportunity to hang out more,  you will never be forgotten.

Jr., I will never forget babysitting you & Gavin when you were both toddlers.  It was always a fun challenge babysitting you two. I would think, "Oh boy, these boys are so hyper!" You two had so much energy.  You were non-stop & ran all over the place! It turns out all that energy was from boys will be boys plus we ate so much carbs from baking pizza, spaghetti & cookies all the time.  We had many nights of blockbuster movies, cartoons, tag & hide & seek.  Witnessing you grow up into a calm, respectful & mature gentleman reassured me that my active boys will grow up to have your demeanor.  We are forever grateful how you connected with your cousins, Aunties, Uncles, Grandparents, friends &  anyone you've met.  I will always remember your sweet, calm voice every time you  called me "Auntie" & will always cherish the thoughtful text messages you sent. I miss you terribly, Jr.  You made our world a better place. Always & forever, we love you.

Dear God, you'd given JR the gift of working with his hands to design, create and bring upon beauty from natural elements as well as loving nature itself.  We ask upon you to open up the heavens and allow your heavenly light to shine amongst these trees, for the rain to fall, the winds to blow and the branches to grow.
May squirrels climb these trees, birds build their nests, and onlookers enjoy the beauty of it all.

Thank you for being an amazing, loving, and compassionate person.  You were truly my best friend.  There has not been a day I stopped thinking about you. 

You and I always had different personalities growing up but, we grew and worked hard to understand each other the best we could and support one another over the years.  You were an amazing big brother and always protecting me.  

You would always ask me every weekend if Chris would be coming over. You knowing how happy he made me, made you happy.  You were also always supportive of Chris’ inspiration of owning his own bar and always complimenting his creations.  Chris would tell me how you instantly made him feel comfortable and part of the family.

You just made everyone comfortable with you and always treated people with respect.
I remember when I would be going to my gym for a year, no one would talk to me and I would be in and out, low-key as I preferred.  But, then you joined and started going to the same gym. All of the sudden staff would talk to me asking about you and saying how much we look alike and couldn’t tell us apart.  I was like gosh dang it. Why do you have to be besties with everyone! Haha. But that’s just who you were and I loved that about you.

(2/2) And I swear you were always happier of my success of becoming a doctor more than I was. Telling everyone and all your friends. And based on others stories, that’s the type of person you were too, excited/supportive for everyone else’s successes no matter what it was.  Just know I was doing the same, showing all my friends the amazing work you were doing. Telling everyone you worked on the Disney’s Star Wars land and showing off the shirt you gave me.  You were very talented and had so much to look forward to in your future. Mom, Dad, and I were always proud of you for being you and we were always amazed with all the talent and creativity you had with woodworking and cooking.

It just hurts my heart knowing that you won’t physically be here to watch each other grow and experience each others successes together anymore.  I wanted see your company grow and envisioned myself referring my patients to you to modify their homes. I wanted to see you stand by my side at my wedding.  I wanted to travel the world and try all the good/different foods with you.  I wanted us to look at each other one day, cheers, take a deep breath, and say “We did it, this is the life we worked hard for”.  It’s so hard to not think about these things when that’s all I thought about growing up with you.

Advice that my brother and I would talk about.
- Know your worth. 
- Never let anyone devalue your work or livelihood that you worked hard for.

Jr. You deserve all the happiness and to be in a place where you are happy wherever that may be.  Alana and I will be screaming your name thinking about your smile and the impact you had on our lives.  Thank you for being a wonderful brother / best friend and being in my life.

Your presence has been a light into our lives and I’m sure to so many people whom you’ve met along the way, to dear friends and family. You will always be part of the memories created, by the fireplace, the center piece of our home, where your skilled hands and talent created a masterpiece. Graig and I met the same time I met the Westview guys during sophomore year of high school and we Immediately became best buds. We had so many great memories together From Camping, Mountain biking, playing basketball to just getting grabbing burritos and hanging out at a friends houses. Our personalities were different but we meshed well because we connected and shared the same sense of humor.  I remember driving to San Marcos everyday when I wanted to get in shape and he let me workout with him in his garage because I had no idea what I was doing and he was willing to give me some tips . Afterwards we would shoot archery in his backyard or meet up with Kenny at Church hills. Looking back we did whatever we could think of at the time as long as we hung out because I genuinely just enjoyed spending time with him. 

Later on we spent less time together because of the distance but the latest memory I have with Graig was we left Dustins house and he showed me he attached an art piece I made to the front of his truck, and I truly appreciated how he supported my Art enough to do that. Thats Graig, he was supportive, loyal, funny, genuine, and all around  a lovable person. I'm thankful to have him in my life and cherish those memories.

There are certain, rare friendships that can endure the many ebbs and flows of life. My friendship with Graig was one of those rare brotherhoods, and I know this was the case for many others in our  friend group. I could be 2,000 miles away in another state and go several years without talking to Graig and when I would be in town and we would meet again to catch up, it's like we never skipped a beat. I've seen the same theme posted on some other beautiful messages here and it's true: Graig had an endless capacity for love and compassion toward his family and friends. Be it a text message to check in, an unsolicited offer for help moving,  handy work around the house, or a random gift of hand-made wooden coasters, Graig expressed his care and thoughtfulness for others in many ways. A curious observation I've always had about Graig is that he always seemed to prefer a one-on-one hangout with a friend versus a large group. I have been reflecting on him the past several days, and I have a theory on why that was: Graig truly cherished the personal connections he had with each and every one of us. I think to him, hanging out one-on-one with a friend allowed the connection to be undiluted and more genuine. That's just the kind of person Graig was. 

My heart goes out to all of Graig's family. I'm truly sorry for your loss and hope that these memories and reflections being shared by us all can help bring some positivity to your lives. Graig was loved by many, and will continue to live on in our thoughts and memories.

I have been incredibly fortunate to be part of a close-knit, high integrity group of friends, forged during our elementary thru high school years, persisting well into adulthood; Graig has been a staple of the group. 

It’s difficult to pinpoint a specific memory to share. I can think back through my high school years and Graig is part of every memory: from the mundane weekends hanging out in the PQ Vons parking lot to trips out to the desert or river to high school dances and football/track practice. I don’t know that there were very many weekends where Graig and I did not hangout.

As I reflect on my continued friendship with Graig into adulthood, I don’t know that I had a more supportive, selfless and genuinely caring friend than him. That’s no disrespect to any of my other friends, it’s simply a reflection of his character. He was diligent about checking-in and initiating conversation, always ending with a true, no-pressure suggestion to grab lunch/dinner/a beer. You could feel he wanted everyone he cared about to succeed and be happy. I can remember sharing with him the news I was engaged, and he may have been happier and more excited about it than my wife or I were. That’s just the type of friend and person Graig was. 

It’s painful to think back on those no-pressure invites I couldn’t make knowing I missed opportunities to spend time with a great friend. This is a harsh reminder of how fragile life is.

Graig, rest easy brother, you are already sorely missed. Love you, bud.

I met Graig in middle school, and during 10th grade, he became one of my closest friends in AVID, a course we would continue taking throughout the rest of high school. While many people often drift apart from their childhood friends, Graig and I have remained in close contact for the past 15 years. He holds a special place in my heart as an amazing and selfless friend. We would frequently spend time together, working on wood projects, discussing business ideas, eating at restaurants, occasionally going out for a beer and even lamenting about the poor performance of the Padres. Graig's dedication to helping others with their house projects was truly admirable, and I will deeply miss his trustworthiness and passion as a friend.

Missing you Jr - such a great person you are.

Cousins are childhood playmates who grow up to be forever friends. You were my very first friend and my bruddah from another mother. I’m thankful for always having had you by my side through it all, my dude. I’m going to miss your love, you showing up for my family, you sending videos about food or funny kids, your smile, your corny jokes, and everything about you. 

Thank you for being the best Uncle Jr ever to the lil ‘munchkins’. I will cherish all the ways you loved on them. I hope Dylan won’t ever stop talking about you.

May you rest easy where gas is always $1.71, where there’s an endless amount of duck confit poutine and *hole burning buffalo wings, and where you can light the way with the glow in the dark McDonald’s buckets filled with the nommiest chocolate chip cookies.

Words can not describe how amazing you are and how much we miss you. Mama needed her buddy and you guys are probably having the best time together. I’ll never forget you spinning me around the yard or telling me “one more shot”. From picking me up at school to meeting me at the bar. Thank you for always understanding me, loving me, protecting me. Thank you for loving Trent just as much as I do. Watching the two of you together was more than magical. Tell mama we said Hi.
