The family of Irene Gendelman Patel, has entrusted El Camino Mortuary – Sorrento Valley to attend to the funeral services of their loved one. A beautiful soul has been called to rest in the eternal garden under the care of their higher power. While many will feel a sense of emptiness and loss, others will find comfort in knowing they are in a better place. May Irene’s spirit continue to be present in every day of your existence and in every memory you express. They say that one is forgotten or dies when you allow the memories to fade or go unspoken. Allow yourself time to grieve, as this is part of the healing process, but never forget that it lies within oneself to live and continue the legacy. I am a long-term patient of Dr Gendelman's husband Dr. Smit Patel.  While I never saw her directly, the love he had for her was evident as he talked about her and his family. The office is adorned with family photos of all of them.  Photos that show how evident it is that she was a wonderful wife, Mother, and his best friend. My prayers go out to Smit and the girls as they navigate this world without her.

I am so shocked and saddened by this news. Irene was always so kind and thoughtful. We had some fun talks and I'll always will miss her presence. My condolences to Smit and the family.

Our hearts go out to Irene's husband and daughters, and to her parents, at this time of terrible loss.  I fondly remember meeting Irene as a young girl, sitting at my parents' dining room table and embracing  her new future in the US - it is warming to know all that she went on to accomplish. Visiting Ellen and Leo's house just a few weeks ago and being surrounded by the beautiful photos of Irene and her family, we could tell that she was the light of many lives.  We hope that her light continues to shine for her family and friends, and may her memory be for a blessing.
