

GORDON, JACKIE (JACK) L. May 18, 1936 to Dec. 05, 2012 Jack was born in Kansas and came to San Diego in 1955 on vacation. He called the bakery in Hutchinson, KS to resign and took a job with Wonder Bread. He married his wife Wanda in 1966. They enjoyed gardening, square dancing, regular trips to the zoo and church activities. Jack was an artist both on canvas and topiary garden creatures. He had a strong faith in God and a wonderful sense of humor which served him well thru many health problems when he was diagnosed with diabetes two weeks after the wedding. He had to leave the bakery to get regular hours. After several years of odd jobs, he became a custom drapery installer for JC Penney for ten years. He went to work for the San Diego School District in 1980 in Landscaping. He loved the job and the people he worked with. Jack was forced to retire in 1996 due to health. Jack was preceded in death by his father James E. Gordon, mother Gertrude J. Miller, brother James Gordon and half brother Webb Miller. He is survived by his devoted wife of 46 years Wanda E. Gordon, brother Edward S. Gordon and wife Beth of Hutchinson, KS, and several nieces, nephews and cousins. His many friends in Kansas, Arkansas, Texas and California will miss him. He loved people. Jack and Wanda wrote a Christmas song in 1976 and were delighted when Rich Heinz and friends did a CD then a video of it. This year out on YouTube called Seasons Greeting To You. Jack served in the Army and reserves from 1961 to 1967. Services will take place at 12 noon on January 15th, 2013 at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery. www.beardsleymitchell.com
