“Jim”
Jim succumbed to cancer on October 17, 2021 surrounded by his beloved family. Predeceased by parents Joseph and Mary Addesso, he was a proud father and is survived by his sons Joseph and Joshua; daughter Eve and son-in-law Bruce Ogilvie; wife of 41 years, Lisa; grandson Nicholas; 3 nieces and many cousins and dear friends.
A native San Diegan, he was born June 11, 1949. His parents relocated to Brooklyn, New York before his first birthday and he spent his formative years living there as part of a large, extended Italian family. They returned to reside in the Kensington area of San Diego in 1958, where he attended St. Didacus and served as an altar boy. He had a devout faith in the Holy Trinity and felt blessed to be a Christian. He continued his education at St. Augustine, class of ’67, City College and USD.
Jim was passionate about baseball and began playing in Little League and continued playing through Pony League, American Legion and on his high school and college teams. With friends he participated in city league softball and basketball teams, and coached a Pony League team at Morley Field in North Park for 7 years.
His work career included banking and project management in advanced technology and computer systems. Jim was a voracious reader and his interests included history, horse racing and playing poker. He loved animals and had an uncanny way of relating with them. In lieu of flowers we know it would warm his heart to have you contribute to your favorite animal rescue organization.
