

Janet Elaine Seymour (nee Horvath), age 78, passed away on September 10, 2023, in San Diego, CA. She was born on June 11, 1945, in Cleveland, OH, to Michael and Julie Horvath. Janet was a loving wife to Charles Seymour and a devoted sister to Linda Stoffl, Debbie Horvath, and Michael Horvath (Patricia). She is survived by her husband, sisters, brother, and cherished step-children, Debbie Hazlebeck (Dave), Lynn Seymour, and Lori McCarthy (Dan). Janet was also a proud grandmother to eight grandchildren and great-grandmother to eleven great-grandchildren.
Janet was a woman of deep faith and a dedicated student of the Bible. For 20 years, she served as a bible study teacher with Precept Ministries, sharing her knowledge and love for the scriptures. Additionally, Janet spent 12 years in mission service, both with Friendships.org and in Houston, where she selflessly assisted victims of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita, as well as the 2010 Haiti earthquake, providing much-needed disaster relief. She also embarked on two mission trips to the Holy Land in Israel and three others to Colombia, Ecuador, and Honduras, where she taught English as a second language.
In her professional life, Janet had a successful career as a college counselor in San Diego, CA, serving for 20 years and later becoming the Director of Counseling at Third College, UCSD. Following that, she worked as a Postal Clerk in Pine Valley, CA, for 10 years. Janet was highly regarded for her dedication and commitment to helping students navigate their educational paths.
Janet found joy and solace in her hobbies and community involvement. She was a member of the Bonita Valley Baptist Church, where she worshipped and found spiritual guidance. Janet also dedicated six years of her life to missionary work with Friendships.org in Lake Charles, LA, supporting those affected by natural disasters. She was an active choir member at Sagemont Church in Houston, TX, where her voice resonated with love and devotion.
A niche-side prayer service will be held at El Camino Memorial Park on October 30, 2023, at 10:30 am, to honor and remember Janet's life. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that contributions be made to the San Diego Alzheimer's Association.
Janet Elaine Seymour will be deeply missed by her loved ones, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her. She will be remembered as a faithful prayer warrior, a devoted wife, a beloved sister, and a compassionate servant of God. Her legacy of love, kindness, and dedication will continue to inspire all those whose lives she touched.
