Jerry Arthur White, 83, of San Diego, California, passed away peacefully on October 17, 2025. A loving father, veteran, and man of unwavering faith, Jerry will be remembered for his gentle spirit, compassion, and dedication to helping others.
Born on February 8, 1942, in Los Angeles to Arthur Clay and Enid (Sandusky) White, Jerry displayed athleticism from a young age. The high school football star later earned a track scholarship to Pepperdine University, where his love for sports flourished. As a proud marine during the Vietnam War era, Jerry earned his Rifle Expert National Defense Service Medal for excellent marksmanship during his service on a competitive rifle team. Jerry pursued higher education, ultimately achieving a Doctorate in Psychology and beginning his private practice as a Marriage, Child & Family Therapist. His professional life reflected his deep empathy and desire to help others heal and grow.
Faith was at the center of Jerry’s life. A devoted Christian, he was known for praying for everyone—family, friends, and even strangers. He found joy in simple pleasures like reading the Bible, attending church, and riding his motorcycle and bicycle. Jerry’s generous spirit was reflected through his volunteer work, including donating his time to provide counseling for family members of victims in the 1978 North Park plane crash and Santana High School tragedy. In fact, much of Jerry’s work was volunteer-based, never turning anyone away regardless of their ability to pay him.
Jerry is survived by his three daughters, Nicolette Cox, Lisa Teodoro, and Kristine Behl as well as his five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Loyd White.
A service to honor Jerry’s life will be held on November 19, 2025, at 11:15 a.m. at Miramar National Cemetery. He will be incredibly missed.
Psalm 23
The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside the still waters. He restores my soul. He leads me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake. Though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me. Your rod and your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup runs over. Surely your goodness and mercy will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.
