2022 from cutaneous T-cell lymphoma surrounded by the love of her family.
Born on August 16, 1930, in Cheltenham, PA, Joan was the eleventh
child out of 13 of Mary Louise and John Charles Jardel. Of the 7 boys and 6
girls, Joan was the last surviving “Original.” She attended Catholic school
and college at Immaculata University, graduating with a B.A. in Home Ec.
After graduation, Joan packed up and moved to San Diego, where she never
looked back!
San Diego is where she met and fell in love with John. They were
married in PA on January 7, 1956 (married for 57 years) and returned to San
Diego where they made their home and started a family. They were blessed
with 5 children, 10 grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren. Joan loved
being “Mooma” not only to her family but to everyone who came into her life.
Joan went to work after the kids were all in school, teaching
Kindergarten at St. Columba, and was also the founder of St. Columba’s
Preschool. When John retired, so did she, and they continued their love of
adventure by traveling the world.
Joan was preceded in death by her parents, husband John, and all 12
of her siblings. There is now a big celebration in heaven and the bell was
ringing as Joan got her wings.
Surviving Joan are her five children: John, Dan, Marie (Mike), Kate, and
Tim. Ten Grandchildren: Josh, Jayme (Donnie), Courtney (Will), Kevin,
Mickayla, Leah, Shawn, Michael, Alyssa, and Charlie.
Two great-grandchildren: Tristan, and Stormy Rae.
The celebration of Joan’s life will be held
