John Kenneth Vick

Born on June 14, 1936, in Beulah Township, raised in Kinley, North Carolina, John lived a life of service and dedication. John honorably served his country in the United States Navy, retiring as a Senior Chief. His distinguished career included two tours of duty in Vietnam service aboard the USS Ford CT and the USS Kitty Hawk, among numerous other assignments and duties, where he demonstrated unwavering commitment and leadership.

In 1967, John married the love of his life, Joyce Florine Sydes. Their union was filled with love and devotion until her passing in October 2007. Together, they built a loving family and John was a dedicated father to Sherry Lee Walters, who preceded him in death. John was a cherished grandfather to Nicole Marie Timm, Courtney Rae Walters, Michael Christopher Walters, and the late Robert John Walters. His love for his grandchildren was immeasurable, and he took great pride in their accomplishments. He was also a loving great-grandfather to his three great-grandchildren, Logan, Robert and Sophia. He is survived by his brother Lance Vick of NC, his beloved grandchildren, Nicole, Courtney and Michael of San Diego, his three great-grandchildren Logan, Robert and Sophia of San Diego and 3 nieces and 2 nephews of San Diego.

John will be remembered for his unwavering patriotism, his strong work ethic, and his deep love for his family. He leaves behind a legacy of service, love, and cherished memories.
