

Jonathan Christopher Hardie, born April 15, 1993, in San Diego, California, passed away on August 5, 2024, in Santee, California, at the age of 31. Jonathan was an avid outdoorsman and achieved the rank of Eagle Scout, a testament to his dedication and love for nature. In addition, he was part of the Order of the Arrow where he was elected Chief.
Jonathan graduated from West Hills High School in 2011. While there, he was part of yearbook, as well as, the football and wrestling teams. He continued to Grossmont College, where he earned an Associate of Arts and an Associate of Science. Jonathan then furthered his education at San Diego State University, earning a Bachelor of Arts in sociology and a Bachelor of Science in criminal justice. Furthermore, he was a member of the Zeta Beta Tau fraternity. All of this prepared him for a future that would blend both service and community involvement.
Following his academic achievements, Jonathan earned his commission as a Surface Warfare Officer in the Navy in 2018 and ultimately earned the rank of Lieutenant (O-3). He served on the USS America (LHA-6), USS Cape St. George (CG-71), and as an instructor at the Naval Reserve Officers Training Corps at the University of San Diego.
Jonathan’s celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, September 14th, from 10am-2pm, at The Rock Church, 2277 Rosecrans st., San Diego, Ca, 92106. The family requests that no one bring flowers or gifts, but welcomes cards.
