Passed in the morning of January 2nd. She resided in Carmel Mountain with her family after living at the Mission De AlCaLa for 54 years. She was employed by the Sister of Nazareth, as a nurse at the Nazareth retirement home, until she retired. She survived by her sons, Anthony, John, Vince and Joe, their wives, her 9 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren, and sister Margaret Carrillo. She was bubbly and funny. She enjoyed parties and socializing.
As a devout catholic, she was a member of the Holy name society. She taught her grandchildren how to pray the rosary, and how to hold our own confessionals. She performed volunteer hours as a eucharistic minister. By administering eucharist for the sick.
Julie was interesting, inquisitive and a powerful woman. She was the eldest of her family and as the matriarch of Mission Valley she held those responsibilities with pride. She cared deeply about people, especially her family. She would be in contact with her sisters and brothers daily to check in on them. She was bold and fearless to tell you NO if you ever strayed from your morals. And if you gave her the opportunity to point or shake her finger at you, she would take it.
She was interested in politics, she believed everyone should vote and have their voices heard. So much that she would hold the voting polls in her living room come voting day.
On the day she passed she was happy and shouting Happy New Year!
