Julitta "Jill" Schmidt sadly passed away on October 20, 2023. She was 96. Jill was born four minutes after her identical twin sister, Jackie, in St Louis, Missouri where they were raised. They loved to ice skate and were "discovered" and recruited by the Ice Capades while in high school. On the afternoon of their high school graduation, Jackie and Jill boarded a train to join the Ice Capades where they performed for the next four years. The twins were known as "Double Vision on Ice" and entertained audiences from coast to coast until Jill fell in love and left the show to marry.
Jill will be remembered by her family and friends for her wonderful sense of humor—she would leave us breathless with laughter as she recounted stories of the Ice Capades. Jill loved to garden at her beautiful Spanish home in Mission Hills, and to go to the opera and theatre. Her favorite people were her close friends and family, and handsome Catholic priests.
Jill is survived by her children, Denise, Michael, Anne and Adrianne Amantea, her daughter in law, Lisa Amantea, her son in law, James Anderson and her grandchildren, Sophia Anderson and Erik and Eva Amantea.
The funeral will be a private ceremony with close friends and family.
