Katherine Amanda Yung Boghairi

Katherine (Katy) Yung, 49, passed away on Friday, May 5, 2023 at 11:42 PM in San Diego, California, surrounded by her beloved family and friends. Katherine fought courageously against a rare form of cancer.

Katy was born on July 23, 1973 in Guangzhou, China, and immigrated with her family to the United States in August, 1982. Katy Yung earned her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from John Carroll University, Cleveland, Ohio. Katy also achieved her doctorate degree in Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine from Pacific College of Health and Science - San Diego, California.

We will remember Katy for her incredibly kind and selfless personality - lending help and thinking about others. She was fun, silly, full of life, and always up for a new adventure. Katy worked very hard to pursue all her goals and dreams in life. She loved to dance and was a world traveler since a young age building many lasting friendships around the world. Katy enjoyed ballet, salsa, music, theater, musicals and most of all, good food (sushi, acai bowls, and boba were her favorites!).

She was a loving daughter, sister, aunt, friend and wife. Katy Yung is survived by her husband, Cyrus Boghairi; father and mother, See-Mon Yung and Moo-Siu Yung; sister, Yanna Yung-Benitez; brother, Jiale Yung; her three nieces, Aryel, Alexis and Arabella, and her nephew, Alexander.

Katy will be missed dearly and forever loved.

The visitation with family and friends will be held on May 25, 4PM-8PM at Cypress View Mausoleum, Mortuary and Crematory located at 3953 Imperial Ave, San Diego, CA 92113.

A final visitation on May 26 from 4PM-5PM with a memorial service to follow at 5PM. A reception will be held after service from 6 to 8pm at Cypress View Mausoleum, Mortuary and Crematory located at 3953 Imperial Ave, San Diego, CA 92113.

The family invites everyone to stay for beverages and hors d'oeuvres after the service to share your memories of Kat.
