Kathryn Fox passed away peacefully to be with the Lord on Sunday, December 13, 2020. Kathryn was born on May 16, 1929 in New York City (Queens). Kathryn’s husband, Tom, passed away in January 2000. Kathryn is survived by her five sons, Tom (Cathy) of Florida, Jim (Betsy) of Virginia, Mike (Cathryn) of Colorado, Bob (Sue) of Poway, California and John (Kate) of Indiana. Kathryn has eleven grandchildren, Ryan, Steve, Mike, Katie, Christy, Amy, Megan, Jamie, Brenna, Jenna and Kathryn (KC). She also had 5 great grandchildren, Reid, Campbell, Finley, Ellie and Tanner. Kathryn and Tom moved from the east coast to live in Solana Beach in 1973. Kathryn was an avid golfer and belonged to Whispering Palms/Morgan Run & Lomas Santa Fe Country club. She also enjoyed master’s swimming and spending time with her dog, Starr. Kathryn moved into La Vida Del Mar in Solana Beach in August of 2014 and lived there happily until her passing. Kathryn grew up in New York City and graduated from Adelphi College. She was especially proud to be President of her sorority, Kappa Alpha Theta. Kathryn married Tom in July 1951 and they immediately started their family. Kathryn received her master’s degree in English at Queens College and later as the boys grew up she substitute taught at Torrey Pines High School. After Tom started his CPA private practice in Solana Beach, Kathryn worked for him for over 10 years. Kathryn was an active member of St. James Catholic church for over 40 years. Her church family and her faith was very important to Kathryn. Kathryn enjoyed taking cruises and traveling especially if the locale included golf. She also loved to read, watch movies, do puzzles, paint and socialize with friends. Of course, for Kathryn if it wasn't chocolate it wasn't dessert! How she loved her ice cream.
However, most of all Kathryn loved her family and found the greatest comfort and joy in keeping in touch and spending as much time as possible with them. A private family Celebration of Life in honor of Kathryn was done on December 20. A special thanks to all the very talented, dedicated and compassionate Caregivers at La Vida Del Mar who provided Kathryn so much love and attention. Any donations made are requested to be sent to Elizabeth Hospice.
