

Kenneth Darryl Bassler passed away at home on May 29, 2016. Ken was born on Oct 26, 1964 in Oakland, CA to Howard and Carolyn Bassler. He grew up in the California Bay Area with his parents and older brother Richard. Ken’s son Tyler was born in 1992 during his first marriage with Cindy Driscoll. Ken married Janet Lear on October 10, 1998 and they had two sons - Trent and Troy. Ken was a graduate of California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo, CA with a degree in Construction Management. He applied his skills working in southern California all his adult life. His primary focus was always his family and he gave his boys unconditional love. Ken was passionate about sports. A lifelong Raiders fan, he especially loved football and enjoyed coaching his sons’ Pop Warner Football teams. He loved mountain biking, snowboarding, scuba diving, and did a lot of fishing with his sons and his friend Mark Perry. His boys think of him as always expecting the best, with great patience and understanding. Tyler fondly recalls all their adventures, long talks and the endless love and support his father always offered. Ken leaves his wife Janet and sons Tyler, Trent and Troy, his mother Carolyn, stepfather Del, brother Richard & wife Karrie, niece Kaylee. He was predeceased by his father Howard, who passed away in 1985. Services will be held at El Camino Memorial Park in San Diego on Monday, June 6 at 2:00 p.m., at El Camino Memorial Park in San Diego, officiated by Mark Perry, pastor of the San Diego New Church. Ken always found a way to make everything fun and joyful. He had a contagious smile combined with a zest for life that he will always be remembered for. He will be missed by everyone who knew him.
