

Leopoldo Benigno Dulawa, 91, of La Jolla, California, passed away on February 22, 2024. Known to many as “Leo” and “Polo”, he will be remembered for his generosity, colorful personality, and passionate, sometimes obsessive interests. Born on October 15, 1932, in Santa Maria, Catamarca, Argentina, he later built a distinguished career in California as a pioneering vascular surgeon. He co-founded team D.A.H.O., a private vascular surgery practice in the San Fernando Valley of Los Angeles, and devoted 40 years to caring for patients. Outside of surgery, Leo had a deep passion for chess, music, and the natural world. In Arizona, Leo met and married Kathryn Estella Doran. Their beloved daughter, Stephanie, was born in 1971.
Kathryn Estella Dulawa, 86, of La Jolla, California, passed away on August 3, 2025 after a valiant battle with late-onset dementia. Known to everyone as “Kay”, she was a dedicated and compassionate registered nurse in Arizona, known for her kindness, grace, and well-spoken nature. She was a true friend to many, admired for her sense of humor and her love for life. Kay was an avid reader and classical piano enthusiast, as well as a talented tennis player and horseback rider. She enjoyed an active lifestyle, and cherished quality time with her family. Alongside Leo, Kay devoted herself to nurturing her daughter Stephanie, inspiring her with a love for music, nature, and a pursuit of high-quality education.
Kay and Leo are survived by their daughter, Stephanie Dulawa; son-in-law, Abraham Palmer; grand-daughter, Ariela Palmer; and grandson, Samuel Palmer.
