Ninety-four-year-old World War II Veteran, Lillian Marion Jacobs, departed on February 2, 2016 from Cape Canaveral Hospital, Cocoa Beach, Florida. Lillian was born in Chicago, Illinois to Francesco and Antonina Gagliardo. In September 1942, she graduated from Nursing School of Illinois Masonic Hospital Association with her Register Nursing Certificate. She entered the US Naval Reserve as an Ensign in April 1943. She was stationed in two CA hospitals (Oaklands, Oak Knoll and San Diego's Camp Pendleton) before resigning her commissions in November 1944. She continued to work in VA Hospitals in Southern, CA. In 1968 she married Laurence Jacobs, a Quality Control Inspector of VA Operations. A few years later they both retired and settled in Rancho Bernardo, just north of San Diego. After Laurence passed away in January 2011, Lillian moved in with her niece and nephew, Mary Jo and John Helm. They all relocated to Merritt Island, FL in July 2015.
