Loretta Anne McCarty Buckner

Loretta Anne (McCarty) Buckner departed this world at the age of 70 on October 30th, 2023 at UCSD hospital in San Diego, CA with Bob Gasenica, her dear friend and companion of 27 years, who loved her very much, by her side.

Loretta was born in Columbus, OH, then raised in Parkersburg, West Virginia. After graduation from Parkersburg High School, Loretta graduated from West Virginia University with a degree in Fine Arts. She later graduated from a school of nursing and received her RN license. Loretta moved to San Diego, California where she made her new home.

Loretta had a love for animals, taking care of small animals at a young age to nursing injured animals as an adult. She loved riding horses, beginning with a pony that she named Jellybean.

Loretta was a wonderful artist from an early age. After graduation from college she used her skills providing artistic designs for a clothing company in California. She loved the mountains in San Diego and walking along the beach.

Loretta is survived by Robert Gasenica, her loving companion, and five siblings; George (Diana) McCarty, Douglas (Haiyan Fu) McCarty, Christopher (Alicia Turner) McCarty, Amy (McCarty) Landis, Thomas (Kate Barnes) McCarty. In addition, she was survived by seven nieces and nephews and four grand nieces and nephews.

She was preceded by her mother, Helen (Kelly) McCarty and George E McCarty.
